The Project:
Cuesta Community College Re-Roofing and HVAC Work
The Work
Edwards Construction Group was selected through a competitive process to provide construction services for this much-needed restoration of the roof and HVAC systems for buildings 6100, 6300, & 7100 on the Cuesta College campus.
On the roofing side, the work encompassed various critical tasks, including the installation of insulation, walk pads, flashings, and waterproofing systems. The contractor was responsible for ensuring the substrate surfaces and building components were in proper condition before applying roofing and waterproofing systems. This included addressing any issues like leaks or ponding without additional costs to the owner. The roofing system had to adhere to the highest standards, following drawings, specifications, and manufacturer requirements. Furthermore, the contractor was expected to provide warranties for both the roofing system and workmanship upon completion.
In parallel, the HVAC, Plumbing, and Sheet Metal scope of work included the removal and replacement of HVAC and mechanical equipment, controls systems, and associated components. The contractor coordinated extensively to ensure seamless integration with the roofing work and other trades. The project demanded meticulous attention to detail, including the installation of new ductwork, plumbing systems, and various supports. Safety was paramount, with provisions for off-hour work, protection of existing improvements, and adherence to all relevant codes and standards. The electrical aspect encompassed power and control wiring, connections, and coordination with other contractors. The project’s schedule was tightly managed, aligning with academic class schedules and requiring a detailed construction schedule with regular updates.
Together, these efforts ensured the classrooms at Cuesta Community College received upgraded roofing, HVAC, and related systems, creating a conducive environment for education while adhering to the highest quality and safety standards.
